Pheno privacy policy
Effective October 10, 2026
Pheno is made by Vinnie Garcia. The short version: Pheno copies your Health data from your iPhone to your own Mac, and nowhere else. There's no Pheno server, and the app collects nothing about you.
What Pheno reads
With your permission, Pheno reads these from Apple Health: steps, walking and running distance, flights climbed, walking speed, step length, walking steadiness, weight, sleep, heartburn, workouts, and State of Mind entries. You choose which ones in the Health permission screen, and you can change that at any time in Settings. Pheno never writes to Health.
Where your data goes
Pheno sends the data it reads only to the Mac you pair it with, by scanning a code shown on that Mac. The data travels over your local network, encrypted with a key created during pairing; only your paired Mac can read it. It's stored on that Mac, not in any cloud service. Pheno has no server, and the developer never receives your data.
Camera and local network
The camera is used only to scan the pairing code on your Mac. Local network access is used only to find and send data to your paired Mac.
No account, no tracking
There's no account and no sign-up. Pheno has no analytics, no ads, and no tracking. Your Health data is never shared with anyone, never sold, and never used for advertising.
Removing your data
To stop syncing, turn off Pheno's access in Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices, or delete the app. Data already on your Mac stays there until you delete it.
Children
Pheno doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
